ABOUT COURCHEVEL

Part of the 3 Valleys Ski Resort

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

It was in the year 1946 that one of the world’s most esteemed resorts was created: Courchevel became the most glamorous resort in France, where we often cross paths with royal families, movie stars or famous musicians.

Whether it’s for its chic atmosphere or the endless forms of luxury from magnificent chalets in the woods, luxury hotels, fashion boutiques, hip night clubs, Courchevel offers a great reason to keep going back year after year: the incomparable quality of its ski area that gives it its reputation.
With 600 km of accessible trails thanks to 62 ski lifts, and 10,000 hectors conducive to back country skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing ballads, Courchevel sits enthroned at the summit of one of the biggest ski areas of the world, the 3 Valleys Domain (10 times bigger than Vail, the biggest ski area in the United States)! that is also shared with Méribel, La Tania, Val Thorens, Les Ménuires, and Saint Martin de Belleville resorts.

Shared between its 3 territories, Courchevel 1850, the chic resort, Courchevel 1650 and Courchevel 1550 that are more peaceful and more suitable for families and Courchevel Le Praz 1300, a charming village with narrow roads, a large number of slopes are available for beginner-level skiers as is the same for the most experienced skiers who can take advantage of unforgettable days of skiing sliding down 27 green trails, 44 blue trails, 38 red trails and 10 black trails, according to their level of experience, offering snow-covered slopes of exceptional quality from the beginning of December to the end of April. If the more experienced skiers are not satisfied by the black trails Les Suisses or la Saulire, they can also attempt the black trails on the Northern side of Val Thorens, which is accessible during the day.
Snowboarders will find exceptional inclines and lanes reserved only for experts and can benefit from backcountry skiing accompanied by guides.

To learn skiing with a ZEN spirit and a light heart, the 3 Vallées Company dedicates wide open, well protected trails for beginners, families and any skiers lacking in confidence, where they can learn and evolve in all security.
Accessible by ski lifts, these Zones d’Evolution des Novices (Evolution Zones for Novices) provide the perfect conditions for novices! For FREE !

Courchevel offers you 67 km of cross-country ski trails, which are all regularly groomed and marked. Access to the cross-country slopes is completely free.

If you ski and would like to find an alternative to skiing for a day or half day, or if you don’t ski and just want to enjoy the mountains, Courchevel also provides 17 km of marked, well-maintained paths through unspoilt countryside.
Whether by foot or with snow shoes you can set off to discover peaceful mountain scenery through the forests. Perhaps you’ll come across traces of wild life in the newly-fallen snow, or maybe you’ll stop off at one of the many secluded hamlets that abound in Courchevel. You can walk till Le Lac des Verdons to enjoy an exceptional sun-filled panoramic view of La Saulire and its runs.

We also invite you to get a bit more acquainted with Mother Nature with the help of one of our mountain guides, away from well-beaten paths.

With the pedestrian pass, take advantage of the ski lifts to explore the highest peaks of Courchevel, and their exceptional panorama.
Stop at a mountain restaurant before going back to the gondola.

SKI LESSONS

SKI GUIDES

Specialized instructors and mountain guides are available to introduce you to back country skiing. We strongly recommend you to hire a specialized instructor to accompany you, as back country skiing requires experience, knowledge of the surroundings and skill.
They can take you to the most beautiful descents and the most beautiful routes.
Expert or not, you’ll also be able to get a taste of the pleasures of heli-skiing, exploring the most beautiful spots in the Alps : Val d’Aoste, Sestrières, prestigious Swiss summits, an immense games area for just for you!

A specialized ski instructor will also accompany you in snowshoeing away from the well-beaten paths surrounded by mind-blowing landscapes. In winter, peaceful walks or mountainous explorations are enjoyable opportunities for non skiers as they don’t require particular skills or physical conditions.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN ?

No problem !

We’ll take care of finding you an experienced nanny who can speak the language of your choice to take care of your children of 3 months and older and we’ll gladly organize sports and cultural activities, for indoors and outdoors, for your children for a half-day or full-day.

Bowling for children over the age of 5, riding a chenillette or introduction to riding a snow mobile on a circuit, snow sports with silly engines, snowshoe hikes for children 6 years old and older, etc.

Kids Village

Children above the age of 3 can safely discover the joys of the skiing : Exercises and various games will lead them to their first ski tests : Snowflake and their first Star.

A private lesson for those 18 months and older with special equipment will allow your child to discover the joys of snow sports.

ESF (Ecole de Ski Française)

ESF instructors provide private lessons and small group lessons for children over 3 years old as well as training session competitions and will accompany your children aged 7 years old and older and adolescents to the test from Fléchette to Chamois d’Or.They will also accompany your children in learning back country skiing, in “ski discovery” or freeriding training.

ESF Courchevel for Kids

Safe Sledding Zones

So that children can sled freely and safely, a safe sledding zone is reserved only for them in the white snow of La Croisette (for the little ones) and at Grandes Combes which is easily accessible from Courchevel 1550 and 1650.

SHOPPING

Courchevel 1850 offers the best shopping, ranging from ski shops, fashion and jewellery, to expensive designer boutiques. The lower resorts all have ski shops and mini-supermarkets as well as a fine selection of bakeries and delicatessens. So don’t forget to take back a souvenir from one of the splendid décor shops in the resort.

RESTAURANTS

With 10 restaurants on the slopes to help you relax over a drink or recharge your batteries for lunch, Courchevel 1850 and 1650 offers a large selection of establishments from traditional restaurants where you can try a great Raclette, an exquisite Savoyard Fondue or a Tartiflette at reasonable prices, to fast food. The Panoramic at the bottom of the Saulire cable car offers Savoie specialties and an incredible and unique view of the chain of Alpine mountains from the sunny terrace.
Courchevel 1850 is where you can enjoy the best restaurants in the area that offers an unreasonable number of Michelin starred restaurants like the Chabichou and its Alpine cuisine that simply cannot be ignored.

The Chabichou

It’s one of the Savoie’s best restaurants having received 2 Michelin stars. A sure value far from disappointments you’ll find elsewhere, your lunch on the sunny terrace or your dinner in the dining room decorated with elegant woodwork or in the private lounge with a hushed and luxurious atmosphere.

La Saulire

Jacques Trauchessec warmly welcomes you in his institution. This gastronomic restaurant offers a wonderful combination of flavors skillfully orchestrated by the Chef Benoît Redondo, around the black truffle from Périgord. There you can savour the fondue aux truffes (with Comté and Beaufort cheeses), the chausson aux truffes (with its polenta garnish with truffles), asparagus with serrano… and truffles. You understood, the restaurant La Saulire pays homage to the Black Diamond in Courchevel.

With each wine selected, the head chef can suggest the side dishes that best accompany the wine, flowing with its own personality and mood. A unique recommendation to try out as soon as possible!
