Part of the Evasion Mont-Blanc Ski Resort
A renowned international ski resort that earned its nobility in the beginning of the 20th century, Megève in Haute Savoie owes its touristic development to the charm of its old village hidden at an altitude of 1100 m in the beauty of its alpine landscapes, and to the quality of this ski area that regularly hosts stages of the Alpine Ski Cup competitions on its run, permanently dedicated to downhill competitions.
In 1913 the Rothschild family first this little village their vacation spot and maintained it at the time for the purpose of promoting the French “Art of Living” through this resort which has not yet since stopped having overwhelming success.
Only 45 minutes away from Geneva by car, this mythical resort’s seemingly eternal authenticity and unique stamp of a traditional mountain village has preserved its typically Savoie architectural heritage which has remained something that attracts the masses. Its charm captivates and envelops the straight narrow streets that brace themselves around the Grand-Place and the clock tower of the church with its green onion domes. A welcoming conviviality emanates from the multitude of small shops and wooded hostelries.
Here luxury is well represented in its multiple chalets of prestige and its hotels each set with different atmosphere offering you the freedom to admire the snow-covered massifs, the exceptional panoramic view of the Mont-blanc, the Mont Charvin, the peaks of Chamonix, the Warrens and Aravis chain of mountains.

These runs are marked in the morning on screens at the bottom of the ski lifts.
Back-country skiing trails are not groomed nor maintained so it’s an activity to enjoy at your own risk, therefore adequate security equipment is necessary. The presence of a high mountain guide or a free ride ski instructor is strongly recommended. Le Saint Nicolas
It’s considered as one of the best restaurants in the region. Here, traditional cuisine is simple in a family setting. People come here to savor the inventive and traditional cuisine, tinted here and there with the local flavors.
L’Alpage du Pré Rosset
Situated at an elevation of 1800 meters, on the Rochebrune massif, L’Alpage du Pré Rosset plays with the menu of authenticity in the high mountains: wood floors, its façade covered with ancelles, old chests, credenzas, and dressers with Savoy pottery…
Taking advantage of exceptional sunshine, this chalet in the middle of alpine mountain pasture, equipped by a fairytale view of the Col de Véry amphitheatre, the Mont Charvin and the Aravis, with a beautiful view of the dramatic dimensions before you. Here the mountains imposes its silence, taking back its power and magnificence.
It’s a true excursion in this restaurant combined with the open air activities and art of cooking: in the stone chimney where the impressively large gorged pots simmers the territory’s original dishes, recipes of tempting aromas that suit the most experienced gourmet-lovers’ palates.
The flavors of this culinary is unequalled and can only be heightened by its simplicity.
Les Enfants Terribles
It entered into our collective memory 60 years ago with the new wave of directors, writers, and artists after the war.
It’s in this spirit of renewal that Megève, Mont-Blanc and Les Enfants Terribles were voted “the 21st arrondissement of Paris” by Jean Cocteau.
To breathe in the saga of this place in an atmosphere that’ll navigate you between modernity and nostalgia, the restaurant adds a refined décor from another time to the scene with the harmony of red, black and tobacco. With a 50’s style design, the colorful crystal designs come into play with the provincial pottery from the Jean Marais Ateliers. The original fresco and the Cocteau styled engravings illustrate the cultural heritage that the artist’s left behind. It’s a true love story, giving homage to those who contributed in making Megève a mythical and international destination.
With its open kitchen, Les Enfants Terribles revives tradition: all the flavors of a steakhouse, where you’ll find the peppered steak that you can’t miss out on, the restaurant’s spearhead, and the opulence of a sitting bench filled with shavings, at your request, and your sodium requests. The biggest gourmet-lovers will succumb to the legendary Baba au Rhum or the restaurant’s institutional profiteroles.
This new level of gourmet cooking in Megève is to be explored throughout the whole year.
“Le Vieux Megève” and the “Restaunome”
Here you can try a traditional dish that is prepared days in advance: the Farcement, a sweet and savoury combination with a base of dried and hand grated potatoes mixed with eggs, grapes and cubes of bacon. The combination is then dropped into a greased mold with thin slices of lard and dried prunes.
Le Torrent
Here one must try the Fondue aux truffes that has been enjoyed by local inhabitants with a habit of reserving a large table for a beautiful fondue, and succumbing to a desire for truffles. Several weeks later of trying, an astonishingly delicious dish was born.
Mythical locations have already been giving Megève its fine reputation for a long time. In a 200 meter radius, night establishments compete for getting your attention and approval.
At the Purple Lounge Latino, pop rock, blues or country nights are held, depending on the program. The Club des 5 rues is a jazz institution.
Le Palo Alto is THE dance club of the region listed as the 10th best European night club that regularly invites the most famous DJ’s on the planet to come entertain your nights. It’s a unique club where the scheduled events will diminish your desire to go to any other club in France.
