As Courchevel is extending over several altitudes, it delivers several atmospheres. In Saint Bon (1100) and Courchevel Le Praz (1300), we go back to the origins, before the creation of the Courchevel resort in 1946. It is in Saint Bon that the first café-restaurant the “Chalet Curtet” was born in 1908, and quickly became the Hôtel du Lac Bleu in 1925.
The villages of Saint-Bon and Le Praz have always been inhabited all year round and part of the woods in the communal forest were intended for the domestic use of the population. The wood was traditionally used in the construction of habitats and many chalets and farms remain. A short stroll in the narrow alleys of Saint Bon allow us to discover its heritage like the Baroque church, the old oven and its 19th century houses. Today, in Saint Bon as in Le Praz, authenticity meets modernity and it is in this part of the resort that the traveler will be able to find the deep soul of Courchevel, anchored in its streets, its rustic-chic restaurants in a refined setting and a generous cuisine such as La Petite Bergerie, La Table de mon Grand-Père or La Fromagerie which ensures the durability of Savoyard specialties with seriousness and modesty. In Le Praz too, an experience in a starred restaurant serving Savoyard cuisine from yesterday and today remains possible at the Azimut restaurant.
From Le Praz, we reach the Col de la Loze at an altitude of 2,403 meters by taking the La Forêt chairlift. The first skiers on foot or in sealskin climbed there at the very beginning of the 20th century. From there, the view of the Vanoise glaciers, the Grande Casse, the Grand Bec and of course the Mont Blanc is breathtaking.
Staying at Courchevel Le Praz offers us so many possibilities to enjoy a wonderful stay in the Alps and profit from all the others levels of the Courchevel resort and the all Three Vallées ski area. To join Courchevel 1850, we take the cable car, and back to Le Praz by the black slopes Jean Blanc or Brigues or the Jockeys slope which joins the red slope of Les Murettes.
Not to mention that a winter ski holiday in Courchevel Le Praz also means having the chance to support the best athletes on the Ski Jump World Cup as Courchevel Le Praz regularly welcomes the champions of this spectacular discipline since the creation of the two ski jumps for the Albertville Olympic Games in 1992.
